Drawings for Roof Sentiment는 2015년 MMCA 서울관 마당에 설치되었던 SoA의 작업을, 그 개념적·공간적 기반을 재구성하는 드로잉을 통해 다시 살펴보는 전시이다. 비록 설치물은 현재 존재하지 않지만, 그 형식을 이끈 구조적 사고와 공간적 제스처, 재료에 대한 탐구는 여전히 다시 읽힐 수 있는 의미를 지닌다.
이번 전시는 평면도, 스케치, 다이어그램, 재료 연구 등 프로젝트의 형성과정을 보여주는 다양한 드로잉을 한자리에 모은다. 이는 설치를 재현하려는 시도가 아니라, 작품이 만들어지는 과정—형태를 규정한 판단, 빛과 바람을 고려한 조정, 공간의 흐름을 조직한 방식—을 차분히 드러내는 작업이다.
드로잉들을 통해 관람자는 한때 미술관 마당을 구성했던 공간적 감각과 사고의 흐름을 다시 마주하게 된다. Drawings for Roof Sentiment는 기록과 재해석의 경계에서, 프로젝트의 핵심을 간결하면서도 정밀하게 다시 그려보는 자리이다.
Drawings for Roof Sentiment revisits SoA’s 2015 installation originally presented in the courtyard of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul (MMCA). While the installation itself no longer exists, the ideas that shaped it—its structural intuitions, spatial gestures, and material sensibilities—remain vivid and open to renewed interpretation.
This exhibition brings those foundations back into view through a carefully assembled set of drawings, including plans, sketches, diagrams, and material studies. Rather than reconstructing the installation in its physical form, the presentation re-examines the project’s conceptual underpinnings: the logic that guided its geometry, the spatial flows it proposed, and the environmental considerations that informed its design.
Together, these drawings distill the character of Roof Sentiment into a concise yet multilayered visual archive. Positioned between reflection and reconstruction, the exhibition offers a contemporary reading of a work once embedded in the MMCA courtyard, inviting viewers to reconsider the project’s enduring atmosphere and the questions it first set into motion.
