오랜 시간 동안 송수련은 ‘내적 시선’이라는 주제로 작업을 이어왔다. 이는 사물의 외형을 바라보는 물리적 시선이 아니라, 대상의 본질에 도달하려는 내면의 시선을 뜻한다. 작가에게 내적 시선은 유한한 세계의 경계를 넘어, 존재가 지닌 기원의 층위와 추상적 본질에 닿으려는 사유의 과정이다.
그 시선이 도달하는 지점에서 대상은 일상의 사물성을 벗어나 새로운 생명력을 획득한다. 작가의 내면을 통과하며 걸러진 정서와 시간이 조형적 결정으로 응축되고, 그 과정에서 형태는 고유한 생동을 얻게 된다. 이번 전시는 이러한 ‘내적 시선’이 구축하는 세계—사유, 정서, 시간의 결이 맞물려 형성한 조형 언어—를 집중적으로 조명한다.
송수련의 작업은 개인적 체험을 넘어, 관람자 각자에게 내면적 사유를 환기시키는 감각적·정신적 공간을 제안한다. 작품을 마주한 이들은 그 안에서 자신만의 감정과 해석을 자유롭게 투사하며, 작가가 말해온 ‘본질을 향한 시선’의 여정을 함께하게 된다.
For many years, Song Su-ryeon has developed a body of work under the notion of the “inner gaze.” This gaze does not refer to a physical act of seeing, but to an interior mode of perception—one that seeks to reach the essence of things beyond their finite, visible form. For the artist, the inner gaze is a contemplative movement toward the deeper strata of existence and its abstract foundations.
At the point where this gaze meets its subject, the object is released from the confines of mere materiality and acquires a renewed sense of vitality. Time, emotion, and reflection filtered through the artist’s inner consciousness crystallize into formal decisions, allowing the work to assume a distinct presence. This exhibition highlights the world shaped by such an inner gaze—the sculptural language formed at the intersection of thought, feeling, and duration.
Song’s work proposes a sensorial and reflective space that extends beyond personal experience, inviting viewers to project their own emotions and interpretations. In encountering these works, one engages with the artist’s ongoing pursuit of essence, tracing the quiet yet resonant path of the inner gaze.
