송수련
Soong Soo-Ryun
Introduction
For many years, Soong Soo-Ryun has pursued a visual language grounded in the notion of an “inner gaze”—a mode of seeing that moves beyond the physical appearance of things to reach the origin and essence of existence. In her work, the inner gaze operates through erasure, trace, residue, and the temporal grain embedded in paper and water-based pigment; what disappears gives rise to a new form of vitality. Scratches, stains, and repeated points become condensed decisions filtered through the artist’s emotion and time, allowing form to emerge with quiet but compelling presence. Rooted in the material sensibility of traditional Korean painting yet resonating with the all-over structures and restraint of minimalism, her work offers a contemplative space in which viewers project their own reflections and join the journey toward essence that her practice evokes.
